Billy Marshall Stoneking, script editor on Chopper, and personal hero of mine, speaks. This interview extract was shot in one take. But to cater for the youtube generation, I’ve panned, cropped and zoomed with the computer. Interesting talk. For a writer he’s quite a performer. While I’m not sure how much I agree with some of it, I think he’s right about Australian filmmakers being afraid to expose themselves in their work.
Billy is one of the most fascinating people I’ve met while shooting. I can’t recommend his seminars enough.

Who are some of your other personal heroes?
where in the world is this location btw?
At the moment, my personal heroes are anyone who returns my calls/emails and is willing to give honest opinions for this documentary!
I can’t tell you the location, as the filming paperwork is still pending. It looks kind of Lynchian, I reckon!
I found Billy’s Drama of Screenwriting workshop really inspiring, even if I didn’t agree with him about everything.
Is that Arky Michael at the end?
Hi Dan, yeah, Billy’s workshops are inspiring. He’s such a character.
I’m not sure who that was at the end, it was just a lovely couple who were walking down the hallway!
